At the age of 7, he moved with his parents to the country and settled in Burgwerd. With a change of neighborhood, he met and became friends with a Monica, 6 years old at the time and later to become his wife.
His family had a large farm and many people working there. The management of the family farm, however, fell on him at the age of 15 when his father, who ran the business, encountered a debilitating event. He discovered that even though his father was away, he had the power to act in his place and that he did. Tony found himself, assuming his new role, at the head of men much older than him and he became their boss.
At this point, he made the decision to either become equal or better than the people who worked for him. And with that determination, he went ahead to achieve that and more. He said that no matter where he went, he always stayed one step ahead of others, or better yet, became a foreman in a week.
Tony moved to Canada in the 80s and upon moving to Canada, he began his career on a dairy farm near Salmon Arm, British Columbia. But he won’t be here for a long time. Having always been adventurous and looking for opportunities, he embarked on a new adventure, gold mining.
It was not the case. According to him, he heard through the vines that Yukoners earned $1,000 (equivalent to over $3,000 today) a week in the mines. Then the lights came on, he figured he was going to win that much and threw himself into it. He moved to Whitehorse where he began mining in Dawson City. Today he owns the mining company called Tamarack Mines and Paradise Hill. It has many employees mainly locals.
