Monica confesses she had an affair with brother in law
Monica told Heather Gay she had been sleeping with her brother-in-law – who she described as her “husband’s sister – her husband” – for 18 months while married to her ex husband, Mike Garcia.
The RHOSLC star Monica Garcia’s affair took place in 2010 and 2011. The brother in law did not receive the same treatment from her Mormon religion for the scandal and he remained in the church.
Later on at a cast dinner, Monica spoke about her affair again, revealing exactly what she’d told Heather. “Okay, cheers to that,” Mary said, while the other ladies nervously laughed in shock.
‘Truly one of the worst experiences of my life’
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City founder Monica revealed she told her bishop about the affair because she “felt guilty.” She was “shunned from everyone and unwelcome everywhere”.
She added the entire ordeal was “truly one of the worst experiences of my life.” She also told her co-stars they would be “shocked when you discover the real reasons why we’re actually getting a divorce.”
RHOSLC star Monica said the affair is not why she’s divorcing her ex husband. She then explained this divorce was actually quite simple, as the pair just “didn’t work well together anymore as a couple.”
RHOSLC star ‘forgives herself’
Monica wrote on Instagram that she forgives herself for the affair, which happened over a decade ago. She said: “Your past doesn’t define you and NOBODY gets to use it against you and they will try.”
“When you accept and forgive yourself, the good and the bad, you take the weapon right outta their hands. We ALL have a past and I own ALL of mine. I have said that from day one,” Monica added.
Also with the post, which included a series of video clips, Monica added, “Some people are still out there discussing the old you because they don’t have access to the new you.”
