Evil Dead Rise's success will seemingly launch a new era in the cult classic horror franchise, so is there a post-credits scene set-up or teaser?
Evil Dead Rise is a gory ride throughout the horror film, but do the scares continue in a post-credits scene? Directed and written by Lee Cronin, Evil Dead Rise is the fifth movie in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise, which functions as both a standalone film and a sequel within the horror series. In the latest entry, new character Beth visits her sister Ellie and her children, with the family reunion turning gory once they discover a demon-releasing book in their apartment building.
The stellar Rotten Tomatoes score for Evil Dead Rise suggests it may be the best installment in the entire franchise, as the movie holds a positive 95% score from critics ahead of release. While Bruce Campbell’s franchise staple Ash Williams doesn’t star in Evil Dead Rise, the 2023 movie ushers in a new generation of Deadite fighters, suggesting a new era in the franchise is forthcoming. Considering the 2013 Evil Dead installment included a quick post-credits scene and the 2023 movie has the opportunity to set up more Deadite battles in sequels, audiences may be curious about whether Evil Dead Rise features a post-credits scene teasing future stories or characters.
Evil Dead Rise Does Not Have A Post-Credits Scene
Unlike its predecessor, Evil Dead Rise does not have a post-credits scene. Although Evil Dead Rise could have used a post-credits scene to set up a sequel or further connect the story to survivors from past movies, the story for Lee Cronin’s 2023 horror film firmly ends before the credits roll. Although there isn’t another scene in Evil Dead Rise’s closing credits, it’s a good idea to stick around to appreciate the sheer number of people it takes to make a movie, especially one as gory as Lee Cronin’s horror flick.
While Evil Dead (2013) had a post-credits scene, it was relatively pointless, mostly serving as a silly way of getting seasoned Deadite killer Ash Williams’ catchphrase “Groovy” into the remake. But, goofiness mixed with gory horror is exactly what the Evil Dead franchise is, so 2013’s Bruce Campbell stinger wasn’t disappointing. In fact, there were initially plans for a crossover with Ash and Evil Dead (2013)’s survivor Mia, so Campbell’s quick credits stinger was a bit of a teaser for what might have come. As such, it’s still somewhat of a missed opportunity for Evil Dead Rise to not include an end-credits scene with nods to other franchise characters.
Evil Dead Rise Has A Fun Sam Raimi Tribute At The End Of Its Credits
While there isn’t a scene, Evil Dead Rise’s end-credits do still include a clever tribute to Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi. After Evil Dead Rise’s credits an audio stinger can be heard that has a special connection to the past Evil Dead movies and TV show, so fans of the franchise will be able to catch this Easter egg related to the acclaimed horror filmmaker. However, Evil Dead Rise’s extra audio content after the credits isn’t entirely necessary to stick around for, as it doesn’t tease future storylines, twists, or character returns.
